Is Boston the New Hollywood?
By Shannon Clark
Boston’s natural beauty and historical architecture has provided a backdrop for many feature films. But recently, Boston has been host to a string of feature films and celebrity actors... to the delight of the gossip columnists and groupies alike. Recently, actor Ben Affleck has held a series of casting calls in and around Boston for his new film “The Town”; looking for hundreds of people of all types, but specifically with Boston accents. Currently in production are “Wichita”, starring Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise, “Grown Ups” (being filmed outside of Boston in Framingham, Essex, and Southborough) starring David Spade, Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, Kevin James and Salma Hayek, and “The Company Men” starring Ben Affleck, Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones and Craig Nelson.
